DOE Releases Planning Grants to Three Proposed Charter Schools

The Hawaii Department of Education is announcing the award of three federal charter school sub-grants to help the recipients plan and design programs to form new start-up charter schools.

The Hawaii DOE is accepting sub-grant applications to plan and develop two new start-up public charter schools.

Application deadline: Friday, August 18, 2006

This federal competative, discretionary sub-grant will be awarded to up to two (2) qualified applicants to be used in accordance with the USDOE Guidelines for the purpose of planning that leads to the establishment of a new start-up charter school as defined by HRS 302B-5.

Each sub-grant awarded will be set at between $90,000 and $150,000.
