Innovations Public Charter School is located on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kailua-Kona. Opened August 1, 2001, Innovations services 185 students in Grades 1-8. IPCS offers parents a choice of free, non-traditional public education in a small school environment. Innovations models a Leadership Team approach to governance, thematic and integrated instructional units, inquiry and problem based learning, multi-age classrooms and technology-based instruction. It is through collaboration of students, teachers, parents and community that Innovations is so successful. Innovations provides a model of how public/private partnerships expand opportunities for everyone in our community. Innovations’ students consistently exceed district and state averages on the Hawaii standards-based test, the Hawaii State Assessment, and is the proud recipient of the Hawaii Distinguished School Award in 2004, 2006, 2008.
