Subject: Title IIa and Drug Free Monies Application Forms and Procedures
At our Administrator's Conference in December, we discussed several concerns during our Title IIa and Drug Free Monies session. We set some parameters and highlighted priorities with those of you attending and reached these basic understandings for the use of Title IIa and Safe and Drug-free funds. See detailed directions and application procedures for these items, which follow the Budget breakdown. As much as possible, please submit all applications electronically.

In 2006-07 for the first time, start-up charter schools in Hawai'i will receive some facilities fundingÂ
Adressed to the start-up charter schools, this memo from CSAO Executive Director Jim Shon and CFO Bob Roberts provides guidance on how the $686.12 per-pupil facilities should be accounted for and what types of expenses are considered appropriate for these moneys (i.e., related to facilities).

The status of Hawai'i's public charter schools was discussed at the CSAO Professional Development Conference, attended by charter school teachers and administrators from across the state.
CSAO Executive Director Jim Shon gave an overview of the impact the charter school omnibus (Act 298) bill will have on teachers and the classroom.
