Achievement in Charter Schools and Regular Public Schools in the US

This study compares the reading and math proficiency of charter school students to students at "matching" neighboring public schools.

Researchers found that charter students are 5.2% more likely to be proficient in reading and 3.2% more likely to be proficient in math on their state's exams.

Researchers also found that students at charter schools that have been in operation longer were more likely to have a proficiency advantage.
