Start-up Charter School Planning Grant Application Available

The Hawaii DOE is accepting sub-grant applications to plan and develop two new start-up public charter schools.

This federal competative, discretionary sub-grant will be awarded to up to two (2) qualified applicants to be used in accordance with the USDOE Guidelines for the purpose of planning that leads to the establishment of a new start-up charter school as defined by HRS 302B-5.

Each sub-grant awarded will be set at between $90,000 and $150,000.

The grant must be used within the planning period that ends on September 29, 2007.

Note: Receiving this sub-grant award does not guarantee the issuance of a charter.
