Primer: Role of Principal Leadership in Increasing Teacher Retention

Retaining quality teachers is critically important to insuring the ongoing success of any school.

Teachers consistently cite working conditions as a major factor in determining whether the stay at a school. And the principal's leadership is often identified as a key component in creating a positive working environment.

This study looks at how to best support principals in becoming more effective leaders. Specific characteristics and skill sets are identified. And professional development strategies are discussed.
