Kanuikapono offers new paradigm in education

ANAHOLA — Kanuikapono, the charter school in Anahola that opened its doors six years ago under the direction of Ipo Toreo Kauhane and Kamahalo Kauhane, is growing steadily despite many challenges.
“Each year we get a little bigger, we have some things that we didn’t the year before,” said Ipo, the school’s director. “We struggle a lot as a small school, but the kids are always happy.”

Ka ‘Umeke is looking for a Long Term Sub Teacher for Papa 1 from July 24, 2008 - November 24, 2008. They are a K-6 public elementary charter school located in the Keaukaha community in Hilo. They are a Hawaiian culture-based school with instruction given totally in the Hawaiian language.

UPDATE: Three Charter Schools Successfully Appeal AYP Results
Hawaii Academy of Arts and Sciences, Ke Kula O Samuel Kamakau and West Hawaii Explorations Academy successfully appealed their AYP results for SY 2006-07. This brings to 18 the number of charter schools in Hawaii that MET AYP for the year.
